Job Description: The Learning Experience – Clinton Hill (TLE – Clinton Hill) is seeking candidates for Lead Pre-K Teacher (4 - 5 years old)  for the NYC DOE-funded classrooms in our play-based early childhood development center in the Clinton Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn serving children from six weeks to five years of age.

Principal Areas of Responsibility:
  • Work as a salaried, full-time teacher (37 hours a week) as part of a high-expectations, high-achievement performance culture that integrates best practice from the Department of Education and The Learning Experience.
  • Maintain an 8:00am - 4:00pm.
  •  Must be available to work from August 26th, 2024 - June 30th, 2024. Note: This timeframe includes and follows the entirety of the DOE 2024-2025 School Year, with additional days prior to the start of the year for classroom preparation and additional days after the last day of school to close out the classroom. 
  • Responsible for developing and implementing The Department of Education Creative Curriculum based on ongoing child-centered program activities that promote the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of each student enrolled
  • Co-teach alongside staff members to develop and execute creatively on lesson plans focusing on diversity, social, and emotional learning, along with enrichment, curriculum themes, indoor and outdoor play, combining the arts and hands-on experiences with supportive guidance from management.
  • Responsible for recording and record keeping of information required to document the growth and development of children using Teaching Strategies GOLD.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and on-going training opportunities.
  • Maintain all required credentials necessary for the role.


Required Credentials: As a licensed program through the Department of Education and Department of Health, Lead Pre-K for All and 3K for All Teachers must meet the qualifications described in Article 47 of the NYC Health Code by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH). 

Pre-K Lead Teachers must have ONE of the following: 
  • Teaching license or certificate valid for service in the early childhood grades as set forth by NewYork State Education Department (NYSED) regulations. This includes: Early Childhood (Birth-Grade 2); (n-6); or (Pre-K-6) certification. 
  • Teaching license or certificate for Children with Disabilities (Birth-Grade 2). 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or a related field and a written study plan approved by an accredited college or university for obtaining Early Childhood (Birth-Grade 2) certification. Depending on their date of hire, lead teachers on a study plan must obtain the necessary early childhood certification as follows—whichever is later: 
    • By June 30, 2024 or 
    • By three years from their date of hire as a lead teacher in a city-contracted pre-K class. 
 

Preferred Credentials: 
  • 1-3 years experience as a teacher for children under six years old
  • Familiarity with New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Article 47 regulations

Compensation: $56,000.00 - $68,752.00 per year
