- Plan, prepare, and cook healthy and delicious meals for preschool children that meet proper nutritional requirements and align with an approved meal plan.
- Design and update seasonal or rotating menus that reflect children's developmental nutritional needs and program guidelines.
- Source and procure quality ingredients and supplies, managing vendor relationships and maintaining cost-effective purchasing within the meal program budget.
- Monitor and reconcile meal program expenditures, ensuring budget accountability and accurate financial recordkeeping.
- Maintain and track food allergies for each child in our center, ensuring their safety, and communicate any identified allergies to teachers daily with every food delivery.
- Implement and maintain accurate meal logging procedures in full compliance with DHS and agency requirements.
- Follow proper food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures to ensure food is stored and prepared safely.
- Collaborate with the Center Leadership team to manage inventory records as required by local and state agencies.
- Provide excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward parents and children, listening and communicating effectively.
- Be flexible and adaptable to the daily business needs of a childcare center.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ year of experience in food preparation, cooking, or food service management.
- Familiarity with DHS child nutrition programs, meal guidelines, agency meal logging, or a willingness to learn.
- A food handling certificate or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
- The ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
