Preschool Cook - Daycare Kitchen
Location: The Learning Experience - South Lyon Township, MI
Pay: $17-$18 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM-3:00 PM

The Learning Experience - South Lyon Township is seeking a dependable and organized Preschool Cook to prepare nutritious meals and snacks for the children in our care.
This is a great opportunity for someone with food preparation or kitchen experience who is looking for a consistent weekday schedule. Enjoy working in a positive environment with no nights or weekends while making an important contribution to the health and well-being of young children.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve daily meals and snacks for children
- Follow established menus, portion guidelines, and nutritional requirements
- Follow food safety, sanitation, handling, and storage procedures
- Maintain accurate information regarding food allergies and dietary restrictions
- Coordinate with classroom teachers regarding allergies and meal needs
- Monitor food inventory and communicate ordering needs to center leadership
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready kitchen
- Properly clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, dishes, and food preparation areas
- Receive and properly store food and kitchen supplies
- Follow Michigan childcare licensing, health, and food safety requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- At least 1 year of food preparation, cooking, restaurant, school kitchen, or related experience preferred
- Food Handler Certification required or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to safely lift at least 25 pounds
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Reliable, positive, and comfortable working in a childcare environment
